Mumbai. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has expressed her desire to become a government witness in the infamous Rs 200 crore money laundering case. During a hearing at the Patiala House Court, she stated that she is ready to bring the truth to light and fully cooperate with the investigative agencies.
After hearing Jacqueline’s proposal, the court directed her to first file a formal application with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This case is linked to main conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is accused of swindling approximately Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Singh.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Sukesh had given Jacqueline expensive gifts worth crores using the proceeds of the fraud, leading the ED to name her as an accused. Jacqueline has been fighting a legal battle as an accused in this high-profile case for a long time.
If the ED accepts her application and the court grants permission, she will transition from an accused to a witness in this case. According to legal experts, by becoming a government witness and providing concrete evidence and information against Sukesh, she may receive leniency in sentencing or relief from legal action.
According to the ED’s claims, Sukesh spent over Rs 7 crore during his friendship with Jacqueline. He gifted her a horse worth Rs 5.7 million, four Persian cats, diamond jewelry, and expensive luxury bags.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that Sukesh also purchased a Porsche and a Maserati car worth nearly Rs 20 million for Jacqueline’s parents living in Bahrain, an SUV for her brother, and a BMW car worth Rs 12.5 million for her sister.
This legal entanglement, which began in 2021, has severely impacted Jacqueline’s career and reputation. She has had to repeatedly seek court permission to travel abroad and has faced the loss of numerous brand endorsements and film projects.
