Kathmandu. The play Seto Dharti, produced by Kantipur Film Academy, is set to be staged from Chaitra 10. Actress Benisha Hamal is making her stage debut in the lead role in this play, which is based on the Madan Award-winning book Seto Dharti written by Amar Neupane.

Now, with Rekha Thapa joining the drama as a producer, the audience’s interest has increased. The poster released by Kantipur Film Academy mentions the names of writer Amar Neupane, producer Rekha Thapa, and director Sundar Dhital. Sundar Dhital had previously directed Rekha Thapa’s debut play Meera, while Rekha began her stage journey from the Kantipur Film Academy’s theater.

The play Seto Dharti, which is currently undergoing rehearsals, features more than 30 artists from film, theater, and Kantipur Film Academy, including Benisha Hamal, on stage at the same time. Seto Dharti, which is a popular and best-selling novel in the Nepali literary world, has been eagerly awaited by the Nepali theater audience and the literary community.

Earlier, Kantipur Theater has produced plays by bringing Rekha Thapa to the stage in Deepak Sinjali’s novel Meera and Jeevan Luitel to the stage in Parijat’s novel Shirishko Phool. Now, Benisha Hamal’s stage debut is also being watched with special interest.

Kantipur Film Academy has been presenting famous books as plays through Kantipur Theater with the aim of connecting theater, cinema, and literature, said Prakash Puri, CEO of the academy.
