Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has granted relief to the famous Bollywood producer-director couple Vikram Bhatt. The Supreme Court has granted bail to producer Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt.
Both have been in jail since December 7. They are accused of defrauding a businessman of millions of rupees by promising huge profits. A joint bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi ordered his immediate release from Udaipur Jail. In addition, the concerned Chief Judicial Magistrate has been directed to issue a bail order stating the necessary terms and conditions.
The Supreme Court has also sent notices to the complainant Ajay Murdia and the Rajasthan government to appear at the hearing on February 19. Earlier, on January 31, the Rajasthan High Court had rejected the couple’s bail application. Following the complaint, they were arrested from Mumbai on December 7 and taken to Udaipur.
In the case filed by businessman Murdia, it is alleged that the Bhatt couple took about 300 million Indian rupees for investing in film production, promising huge profits, but misused the money.
It is also claimed that additional money was collected by creating fake bills in various names and that the money taken in the name of the film was deposited into personal accounts.
