Aamir Khan Productions has announced the release date for its highly anticipated period drama, ‘Lahore 1947’. The film is set to hit theaters worldwide on August 13, 2026, targeting the week of India’s Independence Day.

This film marks the first-time collaboration of three Bollywood stalwarts: actor Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan.

Speaking about the film, producer Aamir Khan mentioned that this script is one of the favorite stories of legendary actor Dharmendra. Aamir expressed his emotional attachment to this project, stating that Dharmendra would have been even happier to see this film.

The film will star Sunny Deol alongside Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Sunny’s son, Karan Deol, in lead roles. Karan is reported to be playing a significant and challenging role in this movie.

The director-actor duo of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol has previously delivered evergreen superhits like ‘Ghayal’, ‘Khatak’, and ‘Damini’. The return of this successful pair after a long hiatus has generated great excitement among audiences and critics.

The film will feature music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, which is expected to bring the historical period of 1947 to life through music.

Actor Sunny Deol has been very successful recently. His last film, ‘Border 2’, became this year’s biggest blockbuster, collecting ₹440 crore worldwide. After ‘Border 2’ at the box office, Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani 3’ was released, which has earned approximately ₹37 crore so far.

The production team is confident that ‘Lahore 1947’ will redefine patriotism and valor.
