Kathmandu. The Nepali short film ‘The Change’ (Paribartan), which exposes the social malpractice surrounding menstruation, has won an international award. The film received the ‘Special Mention Award’ in the Short Film category at the seventh edition of the ‘Nepal Cultural International Film Festival’ held in Kathmandu.

The film’s director Dabbu Chhetri, lead actor Pravan Bhusal, and actress Sarita Bharti received the award at the three-day festival organized by the Nepal Culture and Film Center. ‘The Change’ made a strong impression at the festival, where 85 films from 39 countries were screened. The film primarily addresses the narrow mindset of Nepali society that treats women as untouchable during menstruation.

This film had previously won the award in the same category at the ‘Sixth Bogura International Film Festival’ held in Bogura, Bangladesh. Continuously being awarded on international platforms, the film features performances by Pravan Bhusal and Sarita Bharti, along with Kamala Joshi, Madhavraj Kharel, Sharmila Sharma, and Suraj Adhikari.
