‘Sekmuri’ directed by Surya prakash will be released in the third week of Asad.

Kathmandu. Produced by Limbuni Films Productions, the film ‘Sekmuri’, based on the death rituals and culture of the Limbu community, is set to be released in the third week of Ashar. Currently, the technical work of the film is underway.

The film is directed by Surya prakash Chemjong. The film is produced by Purna Seling, Chandra kala Nembang, Maya Tamang, Sunahang Chemjong, Munendra Nembang and Yubaraj Chemjong. Similarly, Rabin Kumar Nalbo, Ghanendraraj Phiyak, Indu Lawati, Purna Tumbapo, L.B. Rahapal, Januka Phiyak, Tej Bahadur Chemjong, Bheshraj Chemjong, Udip Kumar Chemjong, Som Angdembe, Harishchandra Lawati and Arjun Tumrok are the co-producers.

According to director Surya prakash, the backdrop of ‘Sekmuri’ is the untimely death of the Limbu community. In Limbu society, if someone dies untimely, there is no tradition of performing the last rites as per tradition. The ‘Yeba’ is called and the path is paved. There is a separate method for that. However, premature death also comes in two types – suicide and accident. However, some people consider suicide and accident to be on the same level. Due to this, there is a tradition of not performing rituals according to tradition for those who die due to accidents.

Director Surya Prakash said that the film will send a message that those who died in accidents should be treated according to culture and follow the traditions as they are. The film has lyrics by Yaseli Yonghang, music by Ashok Lohrung Rai, and vocals by Rajesh Payal Rai and Sunita Thegim, while Laxmi Yonghang and Naresh Vanem have acted in the roles of the hero and heroine.

Similarly, Prem Subba, Purna Sailing, Pavi Tembe, Sita Rai, Muna Chemjong, Sagar Kerung, Yam Neyong, Maya Tamang, Indu Tumsa, Alka Chongbang, Uday Begha, Yaseli Yonghang, Januka Fiak, Riya Kandangwa, Kopila Chemjong, Mina Nembang and other artists have also acted in the film. Sanjog Wanem has acted in the role of a child artist in the film.

Shot in various beautiful locations of Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung, ‘Sekmuri’ has cinematography by Yubaraj Rai (Bir Bahadur), editing by Krishna Bhandari, background music by Ashok Rai and art direction by Nischal Rai. Maheshwor Sambahamphe and Dinesh Mangmu have been co-directors of the film and production is handled by Bheshraj Chemjong and Gyanu Tumbahamphe. Although the film is in Nepali, the characters will also speak Limbu at times.
