KATHMANDU- Film writer and director Sagar Kerung has been awarded the 'Best Short Film Award'. The award was presented to the short film 'Tangsing' at the 'International Yakthung Cine Award-2082' ceremony organized by the Yakthung Filmmakers Association in Dharan on Saturday.
Kerung, who has been active in film production for two decades, has produced and directed dozens of Limbu language films, including ‘Che’, ‘Pungsam’, ‘K’, ‘Tangsing’, ‘Tumyahang’, and ‘K-2’. His films have received various awards and prizes at the national and international levels.
Just last year, Kerung was honored with the Special Film Award by the Film Development Board and the Best Director Award by the Nepal Indigenous Film Festival.
Known as a skilled indigenous filmmaker who powerfully presents issues of his ethnic identity, language, and community identity through films, Kerung has written scripts for more than two dozen films.
The film ‘Che’, directed by him, is currently being screened in Hong Kong, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, UK, America, and various countries in Europe.
