Kathmandu. At a time when film activity is at a standstill due to the elections, the public trailer of the film ‘Lalima’ has become a trending topic on YouTube. The trailer, which was released on Saturday, has managed to become the trending number 5 on YouTube’s film category within 24 hours.

Written and directed by Roshan Miraj, the film aims to expose the reality of sex workers through the screen, and stars actress Roshni Karki in the lead role.

The film stars Usha Rajak, Sushma Niraula, Ghanshyam Joshi, Sabin Kattel, and Shishir Wangdel in lead roles along with the protagonist Jeevan Bhattarai. All these characters are featured in the trailer.

‘Lalima’ is set to release on Falgun 29, the day after International Women’s Day. In the public trailer, heroine Roshni is placed in the center. She is clearly shown in the character of a sex worker.

The trailer hints at the film being made into a story of the ups and downs in the life of ‘Lalima’, who is involved in sexual activities. At the end of the trailer, Roshni is seen suffering from mental problems.

Actress Roshni says, “The theme our film tries to show is the mental problems of sex workers. The aspect of what kind of mental state they reach due to background, compulsion, mood and difficulties is also covered.”

Another actress, Usha Rajak, is seen in the role of a differently abled woman (who cannot speak). Her role may be interesting to the audience. The production team has said that Usha is playing the role of ‘Lalima’s’ mother in the film.

The trailer has left a suspense about the film through the incident of the child born to ‘Lalima’, who is engaged in sexual intercourse. The executive producer of this film, presented by Faith Astha, is Reena Lama. The film is being distributed by National Cine Group Nepal.
